THE HUMAN LIBRARY

In Denmark there is a very special library where you can "borrow" a person instead of a book. What a great initiative, idea, cause, purpose and starting point to be human.

The Human Library creates a safe space for open conversations with the goal of challenging stereotypes. There are sections like 'unemployed', 'refugee', 'bipolar'...listening to their stories you realise how much you are actually judging and that you should not judge !

The goal is to fight prejudice. The metaphorical phrase; "don't judge a book by its cover" is key here as people get the opportunity to talk about and listen to others' life stories.

The Human Library is designed to build a positive framework for conversations that can challenge stereotypes and prejudices through dialogue. The Human Library is a place where real people are on loan to readers. A place where difficult questions are expected, appreciated and answered. The Human Library is a danish idea from 2000 and is now available in more than 80 countries.
