You may have heard that the brain is plastic. As you well know. the brain is not made of plastic…NEUROPLASTICITY, or brain plasticity, refers to the brain’s ability to CHANGE throughout life.
The cells of our brain- neurons are dynamic structures. Neuroplasticity term is used to define this CHANGE.
We can modify neuronal structures and connections by various behavioural, environmental and diet factors. In literature there are researches indicating that mindfulness practice can decrease blood pressure, provide emotional control, suppress anxiety, stress and depression.
Besides, it has been shown that the MINDFULNESS practice not only activates different brain regions, but also can cause gray matter and the cortex thickness increase in the brain. In order to control our emotions, we need to activate different brain regions to support our emotional intelligance, creativity and concentration by behavioural activities; the essence of the word is: WE HAVE THE POWER !
